Just shouting out DJ Reborn, who will be celebrating a birthday soon, and she'll do it in grand style behind the decks on Friday night at Littlefield in Brooklyn. She'll be on the soul/funk/house/afro-beat tip with Baron and Hanifah Walidah's Black Patti.
The other cool thing to note that is that the venue is now being booked by Kim Knox of Ubiquita, and she tells me that she's definitely looking to bring in diverse sounds and audiences. Both Kim and the Ubiquita crew have been about progressive music and community for a long time, so please support if you can.
