What do I want for Christmas? Gratitude.
Let me explain.
More specifically, I want to move through the holidays with a sense of gratitude. Yes, there are material things I want as well as goals I'd like to achieve. But I have a lot to be thankful for:
- My health
- My family, and the fact that they're healthy and safe
- My community, all of you of likemind who challenge, nourish and encourage me
I've had the privilege of having some amazing experiences this year, hearing some great music, meeting and getting to know a lot of wonderful people. So, these are the things that I want to remember. These are the things that I want to carry with me during this season of celebration. I want to use them to remind me to stay humble and to continue to be open to learning.
Sometimes it's easy for us to casually talk about "counting our blessings". If there ever was a time for us to take a step back and be mindful of all the good we have in our lives, it's now. We've all just seen something that many of us thought was impossible actually come to pass in the form of Barack's victory in November. Let's stay inspired because there's so much work to be done. But first, let's be grateful. Let's tell those closest to us that we love them. Let's gather around with our families and friends realize why each of them is in our lives. Where necessary, let's do a better job of hearing–really hearing–the things they're trying to tell us.
Yeah, it's been a good year. Thank you all, and happy holidays!
