I have yet to read Sapphire's novel Push, on which this film is based. But, if this trailer is any indication, the film looks to be a powerful piece. With some bold casting choices (Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz), as well as what look to be riveting performances by Mo'Nique and newcomer Gabourey Sidibe, it's already developing strong buzz coming out of the film festival circuit.
This story was a tough sell to begin with, so my hat's off to Lee Daniels and his executive producer Lisa Cortes for getting this film out into the world.
Looking forward to seeing this.
