If you’re around, catch a screening of the new Fishbone documentary, Everyday Sunshine at 4PM. Here’s the description from the CMJ site:
Dir. Lev Anderson & Chris Metzler (U.S.A) — 107 min. — Music Documentary
From the shifting fault lines of Hollywood fantasies and the economic and racial tensions of Reagan’s America, Fishbone rose to become one of the most original bands of the last 25 years. With a blistering combination of punk and funk, they demolished the walls of genre and challenged the racial stereotypes and political order of the music industry and the nation. Telling it like it is, the iconic Laurence Fishburne narrates “Everyday Sunshine,” a story about music, history, fear, courage and funking on the one. Q&A to follow screening. Featuring: Fishbone, Flea, Ice-T, Gwen Stefani, Perry Farrell, Bob Forrest, Branford Marsalis and George Clinton.
After the screening, there will be a Q&A with Greg Tate – BRC co-founder, musician, and writer, Latasha Diggs – musician and writer, Luqman Brown of the band Funkface and Dope Sagatarius, Petra Richterova – photographer and some of the members of Fishbone.
