Janelle Monae performing at the recent Nobel Peace Prize Concert, the annual contemporary musical tribute to the year’s Nobel Peace Prize laureates. For 2011, the Nobel Peace Prize was divided into equal parts between three women:
Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Leymah Gbowee of Libya and Tawakkul Karman of Yemen for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work.
