Yinka Oyewole — “(Sometimes These South London Streets Remind Me Of) Brooklyn”

@sabatta

New music from Sabatta frontman Yinka Oyewole.  Catchy and full of a good head-nod, this is a great song to kick off the weekend.  Of the song, he writes:

This is a song I wrote after several trips to Brooklyn, New York and specifically after the time I spent in the city in Summer 2011. It was an inspirational time and I was struck by the similarities I found between the parts of Brooklyn I stayed in – Crown Heights and BedStuy/Bushwick and where I live and frequent in South London – Elephant and Castel, Camberwell, Peckham and Brixton.

This song is also for anyone who has found a home away from home and feels this slightly surreal feeling that arises form the experiences.

In many ways the song echoes and updates of the sentiments voiced in Sting’s – “An Englishman in New York.”
