UPCOMING: CopperWire’s Ethiopian American Hip Hop @ Drom — 4/27

@copperwiremusic

The group CopperWire–comprised of three Ethiopian-American artists (above, l-tor-r) Meklit Hadero; Burntface aka Ellias Fullmore; and Gabriel Teodros–describes their new album Earthbound as a “hip hop space opera”.  It’s a story that begins on another planet, a stolen spacecraft, and the three fugitives on their way to our planet.

Musically, Earthbound mixes soul, hip hop and outer space.  Seriously.  Singer-songwriter Hadero worked with scientists at NASA’s Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) to harvest sounds from the cosmos that were added to the album’s soundscapes, and even added to Hadero’s already beautiful voice.

Here’s the video for their first single, “Phone Home”:

AND THERE’S MORE: Opening for CopperWire will be surprise guest.  All we can say at this point is that the artist and her band are favorites of many of you.  Don’t worry, you won’t be mad.
