If you’ve been hearing buzz about British soul singer Michael Kiwanuka, it’s for good reason. Thanks to his spare, retro-soul vibe, he’s been compared to singers like Bill Withers and Otis Redding. He’s done spot dates here, but plans on embarking on his first full-fledged US tour next month in support of his debut album, Home Again, which was released on July 17.
Born and raised in North London to Ugandan parents, earlier this year he topped the BBC Sound of 2012 list, joining the ranks of previous winners including Adele, Corinne Bailey Rae, 50 Cent, Ellie Goulding, and others. Get to know him via this BBC interview:
