Yep! It’s that time of year again, people: The Afropunk Festival is back. From the press release:
Brooklyn’s AFROPUNK FEST is thrilled to announce it’s back for the 9th year! Chuck D & DJ Lord (performing Fear Of A Black Planet), Questlove (?love), DEATH, The Heavy, Trash Talk, Danny Brown, Saul Williams, Theophilus London, Vintage Trouble, The London Souls, The Coup, Mykki Blanco, K-OS, Big Freedia, Rye Rye, LE1F, Jean Grae, CX Kidtronik, The Dust Rays, The Skins, Meatloaf Muzik, Rebelmatic, Unlocking The Truth and Sunny Gang are all set to play Brooklyn, New York’sCommodore Barry Park on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 from 12PM to 9PM each day. This is only the first wave of artists – more to be come in a final announcement!
Also look out for 26 food trucks, a skate park and a custom bike show hosted by Brooklyn Rhapsody. More announcements coming soon, I’m sure.
Finally, there were an estimated 40,000 people both days at last year’s event. This year, the Festival has created a way for you to speed through the line. Give a $25 donation here, and you’ll get a Festival Fast Pass. Might be worth it to NOT wait in line.
