READ: Liza Jessie Peterson’s “All Day”

We are pleased to share that Sundays @… alum Liza Jessie Peterson recently released her book All Day: A Year of Love and Survival Teaching Incarcerated Kids at Rikers Island.

It’s true that Peterson is many things, former runway model, Def Poetry Jam alum, playwright, actress.  And she’s also worked at Rikers’ Island Academy, the high school for adolescents awaiting trial, for almost 19 years.  While she initially took the teaching assignment as a way to pay the bills and support her creative work, the experience has been transformative for her and she has gone onto become a fierce advocate for the boys (and girls!) she works with: In fact, a few months ago, I ran into her in downtown Brooklyn one morning and she was heading to court to advocate on behalf of a young man who was up for a parole hearing.

Looking forward to reading this!

At the book party, Liza sipped red & gold Alizé to match the colors of the book’s cover. . .:-)
