Bryan Edwards, Black rock fan from Rob Fields on Vimeo.
Here’s what I hope will be the first of many video interviews with the people who regularly participate in, and support, the Black rock scene: The fans.
An interesting point Bryan raises about himself: He always had a greater sense of the world beyond his Bed-Stuy block. He knew about, and therefore, could imagine possibilities other than what was in front of him. I think Black rock speaks to him–all of us, really–precisely because it represents a set of possibilities far away from those narrowly defined by society and the music industry.
This entire interview is a shade over 10 minutes. Watch it, and then let me know what you think. Is Black rock more reflective of your experience than other genres?
